Rabbit Hill

When this Idler was first starting to read full novels, an old second hand book caught our eye.  It had a map in the front, and we all know how cool a book with a map is going to be.  Rabbit Hill by Robert Lawson was first published in 1944 and is still in print today.  This beautifully illustrated book taught me a lot about living in harmony with animals and our environment, and without me knowing it at the time, the importance of living sustainably.  Nearly forty years later this is still a favourite read. National Simultaneous Reading Hour

On Wednesday the 19th of May, the twenty first National Simultaneous Storytime is happening! The event is held annually by the Australian Library & Information Association, and this year the book is ‘Give me some Space!’ by Philip Bunting.  There will be a live feed of an Astronaut in Space, reading the story! The Idler already has stock of this colourful book in store if you’d like to check it out. In the meantime, mark it on your calendar, and watch this space for a little contest coming up to celebrate the event.

New Shelves!

New Shelves!

After the chaos with the supercell storm that hit Parkes on January 2nd, it took us a little time to get the store back into shape.  (the idlers home on the other hand is still being repaired, but I digress). New shelves are slowing being added, and more collectables are arriving, we figured they needed their own spot so you can find your favourites. Keep the requests coming! Thanks everyone for your patience and kind words, while we dealt with our damp home and store.
